This month marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. During the entire war, 82 Marines were awarded the Medal of Honor; 22 Medals of Honor were awarded during the two months Marines fought on Iwo Jima.

In honor of this amazing chapter in military history, this week’s episode will be On Leadership #2. This will be a follow up (with better audio this time) to On Leadership a couple of weeks ago when we discussed the basic Marine Corps Leadership Traits and Principles. These simple, straightforward tenets have literally been battle tested and survived the worst of the human condition.

Although the basis for these tenets is to prepare leaders for battle, that can easily be applied to our civilian jobs, families, and relationships.

Topics Covered

  • Reflections on the Battle of Iwo Jima: Medal of Honor Citation reading
  • Leadership traits: Justice, Dependability, & Initiative
  • Three additional leadership principles continued from On Leadership
  • Closing inspiration from Iwo Jima
